If your energy supplier has ceased trading, we’ll provide an update on your case as soon as Ofgem nominate a 'Supplier of Last Resort' to take over as your new supplier. Until that time we appreciate your patience and recommend you take a meter reading.

Our stance on mergers and acquisitions

The below presentation sets out our stance on mergers and acquisitions in the energy sector.

Specifically, it explains our approach to outstanding and new complaints following such transactions.

We understand that transactions can take a number of different forms and we have sought to identify these, as well as providing examples of how we will apply these principles in practice.

Detail on how we will deal with complaints that are affected by corporate transactions should provide some clarity at what can be a complex time for suppliers and consumers.

We arrived at this stance having given energy suppliers the opportunity to send comments, suggestions or queries on our draft stance in February 2020.

We received responses from three companies and took these into consideration when finalising our stance.
